Anthony (Tony) Rodriguez is a seasoned public interest attorney with a distinguished career spanning several decades. Since 1986, he has dedicated himself to advocating for consumer rights and economic justice. His extensive legal experience includes serving as a staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission, senior counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and as an Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts. In these roles, he focused on critical issues such as housing discrimination, telemarketing fraud, and disability rights.
After retiring from the CFPB in 2021, Rodriguez continued his commitment to public service by joining Shore Legal Access in 2022. There, he provides legal assistance to clients on housing and consumer debt matters. He also serves on the organization's Board of Directors as Chair of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee.
Rodriguez holds a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is admitted to practice law in Maryland, Massachusetts, and California. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in professional organizations, including the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association and the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys, where he previously served as president.
In addition to his legal work, Rodriguez is a vocal advocate for legislative reforms. He has testified before the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, opposing legislation that could undermine due process protections for tenants.
Rodriguez's lifelong dedication to public service and his ongoing efforts to promote equity and justice continue to make a significant impact on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and beyond.
