Panelist, Lost in the System: Advocating for Defendants in Competency Limbo
Autumn M. Roundtree is an Assistant Public Defender in Howard County, where she represents indigent clients facing felony charges. Previously, Ms. Roundtree served as the District Court mental health attorney, where she advocated on behalf of clients who were committed to the Maryland Department of Health due to competency issues. As part of that work, Ms. Roundtree conducted several hearings petitioning the Court to sanction the Maryland Department of Health for failure to comply with the statutory transportation requirements of clients. When she is not in court, Ms. Roundtree coaches the National Mock Trial Team for the University of Baltimore School of Law. Ms. Roundtree is a 2021 graduate of UB.
