Panelist, Tools and Best Practices for Effective Storytelling & Communications

Caitlin Brown is the Director of Advancement & Communications for Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS), where she has worked since 2012. Ms. Brown oversees CLS’s communications and individual giving fundraising programs, supervising a team to advance CLS’s mission. In her role at CLS, Ms. Brown facilitates CLS’s media contacts; develops and maintains CLS’s social media, publications, and other external communications; trains and assists CLS staff members with media outreach; writes and collaborates on reports, op-eds, and articles; develops communications advocacy strategies; and fundraises on behalf of CLS. Ms. Brown frequently presents at local, statewide, and national conferences on a variety of topics, including working with members of the media, writing op-eds, using social media to advance organizational goals, and storytelling as an advocacy strategy. She has written and ghostwritten for a variety of publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Management Information Exchange Journal. Previously, Ms. Brown worked at WETA TV26/90.9 FM in Washington DC, first as Major Giving Coordinator and later as Fundraising Data Analyst. She is a graduate of Wheaton College (MA) and has a Master Degree in Public Policy from George Mason University. In her spare time, Ms. Brown serves on the Executive Board of Philadelphia’s Albert M. Greenfield School as the VP of Communications.
