Joy Mvundura is a young Public Defender at The Far West Texas Regional Public Defender’s Office in Alpine, TX, which represents 5 counties across the region with a caseload of over 1500 cases. She earned her Bachelor’s in Political Science from Oakwood University, and her Juris Doctorate from SMU Dedman School of Law. She has previously been a research fellow at the Deason Criminal Justice Reform Center where she conducted research about the federal public defense system across the state of Texas. She is passionate about the right to counsel and criminal justice reform, and believes in her role to zealously represent her clients and turn their statistics into stories.
