Panelist, Worker Misclassification Is Mistreatment

Megan G. Bautista is the Tax Partnerships Associate at the nonprofit CASH Campaign of Maryland, where she has worked in a number of capacities for the past three years. In this role, Megan supports CASH’s statewide network of free tax preparation partners to ensure that Marylanders make the most of the tax time moment. She also holds an Advanced VITA Certification from the IRS and enjoys sinking her teeth into a juicy tax return when the opportunity arises. Some of her favorite projects at CASH include the Schedule-C Step-Up program which teaches low-income entrepreneurs and small-business owners about their tax compliance requirements; as well as the Refund Raffle sweepstakes, which runs throughout tax season and rewards clients who save their tax refund with a $100 cash prize. Megan is a Certified Financial Education instructor with the National Financial Educators Council, and holds a Certificate in Financial Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Megan received the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2018 by the Corporation for National and Community Service after dedicating more than 2,000 hours of volunteer service to domestic poverty alleviation efforts. Originally from The Bronx, NY, Megan received her BA in Sociology and Africana Studies from Oberlin College in 2016, and has lived in Baltimore with her partner Rachel since 2017.
