Community Collaborations Foster Sustainable Reentry
Richard (Rasheed) Bennett is a returning citizen who re-entered society in October 2022 after serving over 30 years of incarceration. Determined to reintegrate successfully, he was supported by the MOPD Community Engagement Reentry Project and referred to the T.I.M.E. Organization, a community based mental health program, to support his transition and prioritize emotional wellness. Mr. Bennett is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness among formerly incarcerated individuals, recognizing it as essential to healing and reentry. Since March 2023, he has been gainfully employed and takes pride in being a contributing, tax-paying member of society. By sharing his journey, including its challenges, barriers, and triumphs, he hopes to inspire others navigating similar paths. Mr. Bennett is happily married to his loving and supportive wife, Tasha, and cherishes time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He actively volunteers in his community association to help maintain a safe and thriving neighborhood and regularly speaks at drug treatment programs, using his lived experience to uplift and motivate those facing adversity.
