Maryland Justice Passport: Trauma-Informed Technology for Navigating the Legal Services Ecosystem

Session 1: 9:45 AM to 11:00 AM  |  Room 302

With more than 35 different legal services providers, unrepresented Marylanders must often contact many different organizations looking for effective help. Through this journey, a person searching for legal help must often relive traumatic experiences each time they tell their story to another service provider. The Maryland Justice Passport is a free trauma-informed technology helping Marylanders find the legal help they need. The Maryland Justice Passport allows users to:

  • Develop a case summary;
  • organize and store important case documents;
  • track applications for legal services;
  • create a to-do list and reminders to stay on track; and
  • maintain a calendar of events including trial dates and deadlines;

Legal services providers can also use the Maryland Justice Passport to receive referrals, conduct conflict checks, access case documents, and determine whether they can assist the person in need. Join panelists from Civil Justice, the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, and Maryland Center for Legal Assistance to learn how legal services providers are using the Maryland Justice Passport to efficiently connect litigants with legal services.

Panelists:

  1. Carrie McCully, Civil Justice, Inc.
  2. Susan Lerch, Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland
  3. Thomas Fisher, Maryland Center for Legal Assistance
