Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small ski town in the middle of Idaho and moved to the suburbs of Baltimore a month before my senior year of high school. (My new high school ended up being half the size of my hometown!) And no, I did not grow potatoes or know anyone that did. My hometown, Hailey, was more a speck on the map next to the Sun Valley ski resort.

Where did you go to school and what was your major/focus?
I recently graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Nonprofit Leadership & Social Innovation. While at UMD I was heavily involved with a campus nonprofit called CARE to Stop Violence which provides advocacy and therapy services for victims of power-based violence. While working for CARE, my passion for nonprofit marketing and outreach only grew and I knew it was what I wanted to do post-grad.

What brought you to Baltimore?
Since I went to college in Maryland, most of my friends live within the state and I also wanted to stay close to my family. I took this job and moved to Baltimore because out of the opportunities I was considering, I knew in my heart it was the right fit for me and my professional goals. Although I have moved to Baltimore only recently, it has been an exciting change and has allowed me to live in a vibrant and busy city with things to do all the time (quite the opposite of my hometown in Idaho).

What are your interests/hobbies?
I love anything that allows me to be creative! Whether it’s drawing, painting, crafting, DIYing clothing, decorating, etc. It has always been my outlet for self-expression. I also love to explore new cities and say yes to pretty much any adventure because I didn’t realize how sheltered I was living in Idaho until I moved to Maryland.

How did you connect with PBRC?
I actually randomly found my job posting on LinkedIn when I was searching for legal marketing jobs. When I saw it, I knew it was made for me.

What do you do at PBRC?
I am in charge of PBRC’s marketing efforts and design collateral, manage our social media accounts, create and send email campaigns, and serve as the admin for Maryland Free Legal Answers.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is graduating early with honors at only 21 from an excellent university. When I started at UMD I was incredibly overwhelmed by the sheer size of the campus and the student body, it is easy to feel like just a number there. Instead of caving into the pressures of the business school, surrounded by peers solely focused on making money, I stayed true to my morals and landed my dream job straight out of college.

What motivates you?
I am motivated by being the best example I can be for my two younger sisters. They mean everything to me, and I want them to know that despite challenges and roadblocks you can always persevere. My favorite quote is “Fiat Lux” meaning “Let there be light”. I interpret it as always staying positive no matter how hard life can get.

What sets PBRC apart in your mind?
What sets PBRC apart for me is how awesome the staff is. Everyone on the team has welcomed me with open arms and has answered any work or nonwork related question I’ve had. As someone who would like to become a children’s attorney, it’s amazing that my coworkers can also serve as mentors.

What is one food item you can’t live without?
Coke Slurpees. I can finish an XL Slurpee in about ten minutes—you can ask my friends and family.
