Speakers:
- Peter Holland, The Holland Law Firm
- Chris Flohr, Blackford & Flohr, LLC
Learn how to win cases without the use of rhetoric, but rather through strategic storytelling and revelation of both your own and your client’s truth. One of the most common challenges attorneys face is that we as advocates – and also judges, jurors and opposing counsel - sometimes can't relate to the life experience of our clients. There is rarely enough time during a trial or hearing to fully introduce our client and explain their life experiences. This workshop will demonstrate techniques for how to discover the essential facts of our clients' stories, and how to convey those stories with power and persuasion. Don’t miss this opportunity to develop this important tool for your litigation toolbox!
Presenter Chris Flohr is a former President of the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association and Adjunct Professor at University of Maryland School of Law. Presenter Peter Holland is the former Director of the Consumer Protection Clinic at the University of Maryland School of Law. Both Peter and Chris are graduates of the intensive and selective Trial Lawyers College, which teaches innovative approaches to advocacy, including through the use of psychodrama.
This event will include instruction, group exercises, and Q & A.
Participation is open to attorneys who have already accepted a pro bono commitment through a PBRC training within the past 12 months OR who commit to answer at least three legal questions for low-income Marylanders, using the https://Maryland.FreeLegalAnswers.org website. (Instructions will be provided.)
The training will be made available as an on-demand webcast recording.
