Office of the Sheriff, Anne Arundel County

Panelist, It Takes All of Us: An Overview of the Maryland OAG’s Community-Based Approach to Combat Hate

Sheriff Everett L. Sesker serves as the 121st Sheriff for Anne Arundel County. Upon completion of high school Sheriff Sesker attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he double majored in Political Science and Mass Communications. Upon returning home to Maryland after graduation he had a strong desire to serve his community, but due to a hiring freeze with the Anne Arundel County he set his sights on Prince George's County Police Department where he rose through the ranks and served as the Commander of the Narcotic Enforcement Division, Training and Education Division, District Stations, Community Services Division and various other divisions. Upon retirement at the rank of Major, Sheriff Sesker was appointed by then Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to the position of Executive Director of the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission. His years in law enforcement has reaffirmed his belief that the only way to combat HATE is through education and knowledge.
