Judge Cathy Hollenberg Serrette is a member of the Court of Appeals Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services, the Judicial Council’s Equal Justice Committee, and the Maryland Access to Justice Commission. She chairs the Maryland Judicial Conference Domestic Law Committee and serves as lead judge for Prince George's County’s Model Court. Judge Serrette co-chairs the Circuit Court’s Bridge from Yes Committee, to establish a housing complex with wrap around services for youth aging out of foster care, served as the Family Division Coordinating Judge for eight years and chaired the Task Force to create the Prince George’s County’s Family Justice Center. Judge Serrette co-founded and serves on the National Association of Women Judges’ (NAWJ’s) Women Moving Forward/MCIW Re-entry Conference Committee, initiated the Maryland Women’s Bar Association’s (WBA) Thomas J. Waxter Children's Center program for girls in detention, served as district director and Maryland chapter president of NAWJ, board president of Maryland’s Pro Bono Resource Center and Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, president of the Prince George’s County chapter of the WBA, a liaison for The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and an International Electoral Commission electoral monitor for South Africa’s first post-apartheid election. She has published articles on international law, family law, criminal and juvenile law, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Pittsburgh, a Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University, and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in international legal studies from American University.
