Topic: Eviction Prevention

Approximately 150,000 Failure to Pay Rent Complaints are filed every year in Baltimore City. Tenants appearing in Rent Court are almost always unrepresented, unfamiliar with court procedures, and unaware of their rights as renters. Our Tenant Volunteer Lawyer of the Day Program (TVLD) trains and mentors volunteer attorneys to provide representation for Baltimore City residents facing eviction.

Now that we are in a global pandemic, many tenants are facing extreme financial hardships and the courts are in a state of flux. When can a tenant still be taken to court? What defenses does a tenant have? And what additional resources are available? Join TVLD as we discuss rental assistance programs, eviction moratoria, and more.

Advocates and community members are welcome to join the discussion.
