This training, co-sponsored with DC Volunteer Lawyers Project, covers domestic violence, protection orders, and trauma-Informed approaches to lawyering with people who have experienced different kinds of trauma. There is no volunteer commitment needed for attorneys to access this training. An active bar license in any state is required.

Identify characteristics of the cycle of abuse.

Better understand how to work with and support people who have experienced trauma in legal and other matters

Better understand how domestic violence impacts survivors in their relationship and its effect on certain legal matters
This training will be led by Managing Attorneys at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project. Afterwards, attendees can sign up for their weekly Montgomery County Domestic Violence and Family Law walk-in clinic or learn more about how to represent a survivor of domestic violence in their final protective order, divorce, or custody hearing.
