A Family Safety Plan outlines what parents want to happen to their children if they have an emergency that prevents them from taking care of them. This panel covers important documents that parents in Maryland can complete as a part of their plan with a focus on Maryland’s Standby Guardianship law, why it was necessary, how it works, and how families can use it as a part of their comprehensive plan. Attendees will learn how to explain family safety planning to immigrant families, to begin the process with parents before they meet with an attorney, and to identify low or no-cost resources to assist parents with making the plan.

Panelists:  Cam Crockett, Standby Guardianship Project; Rochelle Granat, Retired Volunteer Attorney; Catherine Scenna, Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland
