Major General Janeen L. Birckhead

About the Keynote

Major General Janeen L. Birckhead is a distinguished leader in the National Guard, currently serving as The Adjutant General for Maryland since April 2023. Commissioned through ROTC, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Hampton University, a Master's degree in Management from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. Throughout her extensive military career at the National Guard, she has undergone numerous specialized courses and held various command and staff positions, including serving as Director of Legislative Affairs. Major General Birckhead's operational experience includes a deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan, where she served as CJ3 Deputy. Her exceptional service has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous others. Beyond her military service, Major General Birckhead has also made significant contributions as a Senior Advisor for the Department of the Interior and is an active member of several professional associations.
