Rebecca (Becca) Gallahue is the Director of Legal Support. She coordinates the non-attorneys who support Legal Aid DC’s legal programs, focusing on career development, training, mentoring, and recruiting for support staff. She also assists with a variety of initiatives and special projects, including the administration of several client support programs. She additionally serves as the Project Coordinator for the Reentry Justice Project. As Project Coordinator, she helps to manage the administrative components of the project, including assisting clients with gathering the documents they need as part of the records sealing process.
Becca initially joined Legal Aid DC as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal in July 2014. In this role, she provided support to attorneys in the Housing Law Unit. From April 2017 to July 2018, she served as the Housing Law Unit’s inaugural Senior Legal Assistant/Paralegal. She returned to Legal Aid in June 2020 as a Legal Support Coordinator, where she served as a team lead for the Housing Law Unit’s legal support staff. She transitioned to a Project Coordinator role within the Housing Law Unit in April 2022, where she helped manage Legal Aid DC's housing-related projects until becoming the Director of Legal Support in September 2023.
Becca graduated from the College of William & Mary in May 2014 with a B.A. in Sociology and Hispanic Studies. After leaving Legal Aid DC in July 2018, Becca attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice to pursue an M.S.W. She earned an Ann Nolan Reese Penn Aging Certificate in Geriatric Social Work and a Certificate of Organizational Management from The Wharton School. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she interned at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, a medically tailored meal provider, and an inpatient hospice unit. She returned to Legal Aid DC upon graduation. Becca is proficient in Spanish.
