Observations from the Bench on Housing and Access to Counsel for Evictions

Room 302: 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM

In 2021, Maryland’s General Assembly created the Access to Counsel in Evictions Program (ACE), through which eligible tenants in Maryland are provided access to legal representation in eviction and subsidy termination cases. Services have been trickling into certain jurisdictions since July 1, 2022 with the goal of statewide implementation by October 1, 2025. A panel of District Court judges will provide legislative and case law updates with anecdotes one year since the implementation of ACE.

  2. Hon. Catherine Chen, District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City
  3. Hon. Michael W. Siri, District Court of Maryland for Baltimore County

Moderator: Jessica Quincosa, Community Legal Services of Prince George's County
