Immigration Court Clinic – Baltimore City
Baltimore Immigration Court George Fallon Federal Building, 31 Hopkins Plaza, Baltimore, MD, United StatesEVERY TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Baltimore Immigration Court (Baltimore City): Volunteer attorneys will interview unaccompanied children and families in removal proceedings to make sure they know about their legal options. Volunteer Spanish-speakers are also needed to interpret and help facilitate the clinic. By participating in this clinic, you will be providing hope and education to unaccompanied children and families while they search for an attorney. Malpractice insurance, interpreters, and training are provided.
Rent Court Clinic – Baltimore City
District Court for Baltimore City - Fayette St. 501 East Fayette Street, Baltimore, MD, United StatesVolunteer attorneys will counsel tenants summoned to court that day on topics including court procedures, available defenses, the eviction timeline, rent escrow, and rent abatement. After brief one-on-one consultations, volunteer attorneys will appear with tenants at their hearings. As appropriate, volunteer attorneys may assist tenants in negotiations with their landlords or their representatives. They may also provide follow up advice regarding rent escrow and requesting a housing inspection. Volunteer attorneys will only provide limited scope, day-of-court services; they will not provide continuing legal representation. FREE training, malpractice insurance coverage, mentoring, and support are provided to all Project volunteers.

Volunteer attorneys can provide critical legal help to Maryland consumers by participating in courthouse clinics on the first, second, and third Fridays of the month in Upper Marlboro. At the Consumer Protection Project (CPP)'s courthouse clinics, attorneys will provide advice and limited scope representation to consumer defendants, negotiate payment plans and dismissals, and help consumers file notices of intention to defend. Volunteers may also accept cases from either clinic for full representation.

Langley Park Multi-Service Center 1401 East University Boulevard, Hyattsville, MD, United StatesVolunteer attorneys will advise immigrant parents about family legal options and assist with preparing family safety planning legal documents, such as financial powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney, and Maryland's Kinship and Health Care Affidavits. Volunteer Spanish-speakers are also needed to interpret and help parents create their family safety packets. By participating in this clinic, you will help parents plan for what will happen to their children if they are detained or deported by immigration. Malpractice insurance, interpreters, and training are provided.

Litigation Skills Lunch & Learn: Tips for getting social media evidence admitted at trial

Attendees must agree to fulfill two (2) units of volunteering within one year of training. One “unit of volunteering” is EITHER participating at one (1) CLS Rent Court Clinic OR taking one (1) landlord-tenant case from CLS.
