Alexis Ivory is a Senior Staff Attorney with the National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP). She develops training programs and conducts training for veterans advocates and attorneys across the country. Ms. Ivory also mentors attorneys who do pro bono work for NVLSP’s Lawyers Serving Warriors program and represents veterans and their survivors before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the Board of Veterans’ Appeals. Ms. Ivory also developed and maintains NVLSP’s VA Benefits Identifier App, a free logic tree questionnaire that helps veterans and their advocates identify disabilities for which the veteran may be entitled to VA compensation. She is also is co-author of The Veterans Benefits Manual.
Prior to joining NVLSP, Ms. Ivory was counsel at the Board of Veterans’ Appeals from December 2006 to February 2016. During her tenure, Ms. Ivory wrote decisions for Veterans Law Judges, mentored new attorneys, and trained BVA attorneys. Ms. Ivory was also the VA representative at military bases in Japan and taught the VA portion of the Transition Assistance Program. Ms. Ivory is a graduate of The Catholic University of America (B.S. 2002) and The Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America (J.D. 2005).
