Richard Vilmenay joined the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition as a Staff Attorney in 2019. Richard represents clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Courts and USCIS. As a member of CAIR’s National Qualified Representative Program (NQRP), Richard represents individuals who have been deemed mentally incompetent by an Immigration Judge and are therefore appointed counsel. He previously interned with the Board of Immigration Appeals. Prior to working in the immigration field, Richard was a financial aid counselor at Georgetown Law and New York University. He has volunteered with Washington Lawyers’ Committee Worker’s Rights Clinic, which provides pro bono legal services for low-income workers, and also volunteers as a tutor with Project Northstar.
